Keep Calm & Binge On

We all know when the fall and winter seasons arrive we don’t have to feel guilty about cuddling up on the couch with a nice fluffy blanket for hours on end.  Living in California, I find it really hard to find a day to stay inside and do nothing.  With the weather being so nice everyday I feel guilty staying inside on a day off.  Those are the days that I wish I was back in Washington.  But I do force myself (as a form of “self care”) to do nothing at least for a few hours out of my week.  Typically during those few hours of doing “nothing” I usually like to do something mindless, and that’s where TV comes in.  So here are the shows that I am currently binge watching (in no particular order):

  • Dancing With the Stars: (27 Seasons)
    • Alright, I know what you are going to say, but it’s such a fun show to watch and see all the different style dances! I have always wished I could dance like those pros (maybe one day I’ll pick up dancing as another hobby?).  Season 26 was Bryan and I’s first season watching it, and we entered to win tickets and we won tickets for the semi-finals, BUT found out 48 hours before that he was supposed to start his first day at RA Capital in San Diego…so needless to say we were unfortunately unable to attend. we were really bummed because our favorites were in the semi-finals. But we will submit ourselves again! So fingers crossed!

  • The Good Place: (3 Seasons)
    • This show was recommended to us from another couple from Bible Study. It is such an easy show to watch with episodes being about 20-25 minutes long.  Bryan and I enjoy watching this show when we want something to wind down with before bed, but it does make you think about a lot of philosophical dilemmas too.  It is about a woman who dies and goes to the “Good Place” for her afterlife, but quickly realizes that she is in the wrong place.  How can she be in the “wrong place? What the fork?! Watch it and find out! You can find it on Netflix.

  • Star: (2 Seasons)
    • If you are an Empire fan, then you will like Star.  Star is a girl in the foster system that has dreams of making it huge in the music industry.  She forms a girl band with her half sister and her best friend from Instagram and move to Atlanta to try and make it big.  They start to realize that making it in the music industry comes with a price. What happens? Do the girls stick together or go separate ways?  Can’t tell you.  Watch it on Hulu and Amazon Prime.

  • This Is Us: (3 Season)
    • Honestly, I wasn’t crazy about this show when I first started watching it.  I think because I am not really into flashback shows, but then everyone told me to keep watching.  Sooooo, needless to say, by the fifth episode I ended up falling in love with the show.  I was even able to get Bryan into it and binge with me. It is about a family who has triplets and their life after the birth.  It goes back and forth between the past and present and the producers do a really good job of making it flow so easily.  I am currently on the third season.  If you would like to watch “This is Us” (if you haven’t already), you can find it on NBC, Hulu, and YouTube.

  • Good Girls: (2 Seasons)
    • Alright, Bryan and I like to say that this is like Breaking Bad female version.  It’s about these three friends who are all having different personal battles so they try to take control of their life financially by getting involved in a crime game.  You can watch it on NBC, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and YouTube.

  • The Sinner: (2 Seasons)
    • This show can be a little dark, but has a really good story line and really pulls you in. Fast. Jessica Biel is the Executive Producer and its an American Crime/drama/mystery type of show.  The first season was about a mother who is at the beach with her family and randomly attacks and murders someone nearby. A detective takes on her case and digs into her history to find out why a woman with a family would randomly murder someone at the beach.  What did the detective find out?  I haven’t finished the second season so I can’t give any spoilers..sorry!  Watch it on Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, or USA Network.

  • The Good Doctor: (2 Seasons)
    • I love this show! If you are a fan of Grey’s Anatomy or The Resident or any hospital show then I guarantee that you will like The Good Doctor.  Or on the contrary, some of you may be like “another medical drama?!”  Well I will tell you this is so much better!! It is about an autistic medical resident who is trying to prove himself to his colleagues.  They quickly learn that he has an extraordinary gift and he starts to challenge the skepticism facing him as he enters the medical field as someone diagnosed with autism.  I find this show so inspiring to the point it has brought me tears while watching it. I’m currently watching the second season!!  To watch it for yourself, you can find it ABC, Hulu, YouTube, and Amazon Prime.

  • Fresh Off The Boat: (5 Seasons)
    • This is another show that Bryan and I can unwind to.  It is an easy show to watch with most of the episodes being about 20-25 minutes long. This show is hilarious in a way that it depicts lives of immigrants and what they face when they move to America.  To watch, you can find it on ABC, Hulu, Youtube, and Amazon Prime.

Hopefully, you were able to learn about a new show! Let me know if you have any other binge worthy shows in the comments section! I would love to hear what you enjoy watching! 🙂

xoxo,
